IMPORTANT NEED TO KNOW FOR WEEKLY INSTRUCTION & ASSIGNMENTS

This webpage is for BOTH AP World History & AP Art History classes.

Note: May change as Mrs. Osborn discovers what format works best for both students & parents/guardians.

* Students DO NOT need to attend EVERY day for the full two hours. If is PREFERRED that they are present for at least ONE INSTRUCTION DAY per week. Again, see schedule below. *

NEW INFO FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS FOR THE WEEK OF 3/30-4/6

1) What is that, Mrs. Osborn? These are the most-used online platforms I use for class.

An * means it is a platform that students have been using all year in-and-out of the classroom

            - GC [Google Classroom] *

            - EdPuzzle *: online platform where students watch videos that are embedded with questions [Multiple-Choice, True/False, Short Answer]. As students watch the assigned video, it will pause and prompt students to answer a question before the video will continue. For the most part, these videos are less than 10 minutes in length. Students can login through GC using their GISD email address. I WILL BE USING THIS PROGRAM EXTENSIVELY TO DELIVER COURSE CONTENT.

            - Socrative *: online assessment for quizzes or activities. Students enter with a code & name

            - Kahoot *: Interactive Review games; have always done in class, but will be assigning at-home versions for the first time next week [4/6-10]. Students use a code to enter game.

            - Quizlet *: Another interactive game resource; however, students can open on their own and search for Flash Cards, Quizzes, etc. to review.

            - AP ART HISTORY ONLY – Khan Academy *: Majority of online instruction is delivered to students through activities that students have used all year long. (Of course, PowerPoint lectures will continue to be uploaded to GC)

            - VERY IMPORTANT, FOR BOTH APAH & APWH: College Board’s AP CLASSROOM: Was used sparingly during the first semester [new platform rolled out by College Board for 19-20. It was/is not user-friendly. HOWEVER, as the AP Exam itself will be administered online through this platform, you will see an increasing amount of activities/quizzes/reviews administered through AP CLASSROOM. Please make sure your student can login to his/her College Board account this week (3/30-4/3). The first activities will be assigned.

2) AP EXAMS: Will take place ONLINE this year! For more info & review session info, click HERE and HERE.

3) IS GISD STILL PAYING FOR THE AP EXAM? IF your student attended the December 7th Gladiator Day for AP World History, GISD will be paying for the AP Exam [date TBA by the College Board]. Parents/Guardians were sent information via email. Students who did NOT attend Gladiator Day in December were assigned an AP Exam Review Packet BEFORE SPRING BREAK [see schedule below] – Successful completion/submission of packet on GC will count towards tutorials requirement – more info to come. [Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about that right now – we just need to encourage students to continue studying – this provides a routine & the comfort of normalcy.]
